We celebrate Grandparents’ Day each January during Catholic Schools’ Week. This is such a special occasion whereby we invite all parents and Grandparents to a school mass in Cloneen Church followed by coffee and cakes in the school. We try to tie this in around St. Brigid’s Day asking grandparents to help us to create St. Brigid’s Day crosses.
Is aoibheann linn Seachtain na Gaeilge! The whole school gets involved and it’s great fun. We have spot prizes for Cainteoirí Gaeilge on yard and the children love coming up with ideas for the week. Now that we are a Gaelbhratach school, we will be going all-out in March 2023!
We celebrate the graduation of our 6th Class pupils with a Graduation Mass in Cloneen Church and a celebration for the whole school and parents back at the school afterwards. Last year, our 6th Class were presented with their Graduation Certificates and Medals in the church and cut a Graduation Cake back at the school. The rest of the children in the school sang at the mass and the graduates read prayers and presented gifts. It was a beautiful celebration.
We have a Christmas Concert every year. The format changes from year to year, and this year our Junior Infants to 2nd Class are doing a nativity play called “Away in a Manger” and our 3rd to 6th Class children are performing the musical “Oliver”.
We have a Halloween Hoolie each year in aid of a children’s charity of our students’ choice. This year, we dressed up and played Halloween games in aid of Temple Street Children’s Charity. Our children are always so good to get involved in these fundraisers and love the fun on the day.
